The Institute for Insurance, Zagreb is organizing 4th conference "Challenges and Practice of Insurance Supervision in South East Europe”. The conference will be held on 4 April 2017 in The Westin Zagreb Hotel.
  • Event
  • Insurance regulatory reporting
  • XBRL reporting
  • Solvency II
  • XBRL

The aim of the conference

  • To encourage and point to some changes in the supervision system of insurance companies and changes in supervisory practice and supervisory institutions. Adjustment to regulation and adaptation of regulation as well as the cooperation with the supervisory body are the strategic issues of insurance companies.
  • Fulfilment of supervisory requirements, and in particular compliance with the regulation, is extremely dynamic and subject to the constant changes, which requires constant and expensive customization from insurers.

  • The conference is meant to shed some lights on some of these issues, with particular emphasis on cooperation between insurance companies and supervision agencies in the countries of the region.

Leveraging XBRL to Generate a Return on Compliance Investments

April 4, 2017, 3:00pm - 3:15pm

Mandated by EIOPA and widely adopted by European National Competent Authorities (NCAs) for national-level Solvency II data collection, XBRL (eXtensible Business Reporting Language) is, when wisely used, a powerful global data standard that can bridge the gap between "data-centric" technical requirements and "table-centric" business users needs. We will examine strengths and pitfalls of XBRL implementation, from the regulators' and filers' points of views, and explain how business users can make the most of XBRL technology.
